Pemba Dhow Cruise

A dhow is a traditional Arab Sailing ship! Dhows have been well known in the East African coast for over -a 1000 years. The dhow built entirely from wood, where originally used in transporting spices, carpets, slaves and chests between India and East Africa.

The dhow always set sail in the time of the monsoon wind. Despite the modern day assistance of a small motor the dhow retains its original charm for the young and the young -at –heart. Three professional fishermen and you are an important part of the crew and are expected to help with various jobs such as raising and lowering of the sail and steering of the dhow.

Onboard our dhow we have a personal guide who will accompany you on your cruise and give you a tour of each village we pass from the water, he is also your man to answer questions regarding the sail, the villages you see around and anything related to tourism. The cruise will enable you reach the beautiful untouched beaches, sand banks, and islets which really stuns. Photographing is warmly welcome and accepted. Do not miss this!
